Geometric optics; is the branch of optics that deals with the propagation of light in terms of rays, focusing on how light interacts with various surfaces through reflection, refraction, and diffraction. This approach simplifies the analysis of light behavior by ignoring the wave nature of light and instead treating it as straight lines or rays that travel through different media. It is crucial for understanding image formation, lens design, and optical instruments.
At the end light is considered as wave then we will study the phenomena of interferences, diffraction and polarisation.
